Food and Fashion Crossover with Harleen Jabbal Talks to Miss Mandi

Miss Mandi Sarro, Media Personalty, Content Creator and Food Vlogger

17th September, 2017

Harleen Jabbal of the Crossover Show sat down with Mandi Sarro to find out more about her journey. Mandi shared that she has always been a huge fan of hanging out in the kitchen, especially with her mother. When she was about 11 years old, she made tripe for her family and got a good reaction from them. This encouraged her to go on cooking. At the moment, her power dish is chicken wings which she makes with her own twist to the delight of her friends and family.

Despite her love for food and cooking, Mandi is not too keen on being a chef. She is more interested in being a creative in the food space. She believes that eating good food is a great form of self-care and her passion for cooking comes from her unapologetic love for food. Her creativity is derived from her roots; she comes from a very creative family and remembers her father telling her that food is art.

Her culinary knowledge has been gained from playing host as well as travelling. She is able to pick up various tips and tricks to help supplement her creative food journey.

The hardest part for her when it comes to cooking is the prep beforehand and the dishes afterwards. The cooking itself is enjoyable.

Mandi describes herself as a creative, assertive go-getter with the unfortunate habit to overthink things. Her style comes about organically with her just going with the flow of the mood as well as highlighting the best of her body.

Mandi credits her friends influence and advice as what led her to take the final step into starting her food vlogging venture. She has surrounded herself with risk takers who encouraged her to take the plunge into following her passion for food and cooking at a greater scale.

Mandi’s advice to anyone out there is that this world is for the takers. Dreams do come true through hard work, patience, perseverance and consistency.

In future, Mandi plans to venture into merchandising, mentoring and elevating the Kenyan food scene to a new level.
