Securex Agencies (K) LTD has announced the addition of five more beneficiaries to the company’s scholarship scheme. This brings to 25 the total number of beneficiaries to the program that was started in 2014. Beneficiaries of the scheme have their tuition plus other expenses catered for throughout their high school career.
According to Securex, the scholarship is an internal employee recognition scheme meant to reward long-serving members of the company’s uniformed section whose children have excelled in their K.C.P.E examinations. Beneficiaries of this year’s scholarship include Stephen Figoh who scored 385 marks and will be joining Ribe Boys High School. Other students to benefit include Kevin Oketch, Brian Wekulo, Ibrahim Joseph and Evans Wanjala.
“We are very grateful for the opportunity you have given us, and we will not let you down when we join Form One. I will better my grade when I do my K.C.S.E in four years’ time, and from there I want to be a doctor,” said Stephen Figoh.
Securex Chairman Kishorilal Sahni lauded the students’ efforts and encouraged them not to lose sight of their ambitions. The first batch of beneficiaries under the scheme sat their K.C.S.E last year. Mr. Sahni went on to elucidate the lessons the company has learnt since starting the program.
“Last year, we completed our first cycle of the Securex Scholarship Scheme with our class of 2014 sitting for their exams… Going forward we will be shifting from simply monitoring your performance to actively mentoring you and helping you grow into well-rounded students.” Mr. Sahni added.
Securex Chairman Mr. Kishorilal Sahni presents a cheque to Stephen Figoh, top scholar in the Securex Scholarship Scheme Class of 2018. Looking on is Stepehen’s father, Mr. Mwadzombo.
