The campaign will take place between May and November and will also focus on growing and nurturing local music talent by giving artistes a chance to perform in live concerts across the country. It will be characterized by six concerts that will kick off in Eldoret then move on to Meru, Machakos, Mombasa, Kisumu and Kisii.
The concerts will be complemented by road shows that will traverse various towns, artistes’ boot camps and Corporate Social Investment (CSI) activities that will all happen before the main concert.
The engaged artistes, to be announced ahead of each concert, will also get a chance to increase their revenue through mobile downloads of their music on the SONGA and SKIZA platforms.
SONGA by Safaricom is an all-inclusive music streaming service offering a wide variety of music to customers as well as an additional platform for artistes to sell their music. It is accessible via an App on Android mobile devices and offers online and offline play, track and full album downloads, playlist creation and an ability to share links with other subscribers.
Skiza is the biggest ring back tunes service run by Safaricom for its 29 million customers. Last year Skiza service paid out over Kes 1.4 billion to artistes.
