SUBIRA Wins Swedish Hearts
The highly acclaimed Kenyan – Danish feature film SUBIRA featuring top Kenyan actors Brenda Wairimu as the lead actor, Nice Githinji, Tirath Padam, Ali Mwangola, Melvin Alusa and Abubakar Mwenda amongst others is set for an International premiere this Saturday 26th January 2019 at Goteburg Film Festival in Sweden.
Opening to a resounding success it’s no wonder that the Swedes have it four screenings all at Prime time with all the screenings sold out.
In attendance are the Director/ Producer Ravneet Sippy Chadha and the Danish Producer Vibeke Muasya.

Subira premiered locally on the 29th of November 2018 at Westgate Cinema Nairobi. The premiere was graced by the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and Technology Joe Mucheru, Nairobi Women Representative Ms. Esther Passaris, CEO of Kenya Film Commission Mr. Timothy Owase, Danish Ambassador Hon. Mette Knusden, Hon. Mr. Chandramouli from the Indian High Commission, Brazilian Ambassador Hon. Fernando Coimbra, Deputy Ambassador of Israel Hon. Mr. Eyal David, Mr. Joe Wanjui – Chairman UAP Insurance, René DENIS, Regional Audiovisual Attaché, to name a few.
Among the Film Community and some members from the Writers Guild present were Cajetan Boy, Bea Wangondu, Martin Nyakabete, Roselidah Taabu, Brenda Wairimu, Nice Githinji, Tirath Padam, Ali Mwangola, Fatuo Hassan & Shirleen Wangari.
Subira is semi-autobiographical story based on director, Sippy Chadha’s own life, who has written, directed and co-produced the film.
Subira recently scooped the highest number of awards at the Kalasha film and TV awards 2018.
