Vet Lab’s Varsani wins I&M Bank Golf by Wide Margin
The fast greens at Muthaiga Golf Club on the weekend were no challenge to Vet Lab member, Mohan Varsani, handicap 20, who ran away with the I&M Bank overall prize Friday with 44 stableford points. Mohan’s first nine of 21 points was followed by an even better 23 points on the back nine to confirm his victory.
His score was three shots better than Sigona’s Amar Shah who was the Men’s winner on 41 points playing off handicap 18.
There were a total of three scores in the 40s, as Lwande Obukosia of Karen shot 40 points and took the runner-up men prize. Further back, two Sigona players – Ravi Raval (8 handicap) and Ashok Chandarana (20) took Men third and fourth place on countback 37 points. Raval also won the longest drive men.
The lady winner, Nicole Gidoomal played solidly carding 33 points and was also the Longest Drive lady winner. A point behind was Norah Njeri of Royal Nairobi, with Karen’s WanjiraKireri taking the third lady on 31 points.
I&M Bank’s Nanyuki branch manager, Joe Wainaina retained his title as the best golfer at the bank, as he once again won the Staff prize on 30 points.
This year, a BMW X3 was the hole in one prize on number 13 but the prize went unclaimed for yet another year. Nearest the pin on hole 5men winner was Sam Itemere as Cathy Kimani took the ladies prize.
The complimentary Titliest Two-club Ballpool this year was enjoyed by a large group – the fast greens complimenting accuracy as 17 golfers claimed 8 balls each.
