Equity Afia Opens New Clinic on Biashara Street, Nairobi

In a move to increase access to quality and affordable health services, Equity Afia has opened its 12th satellite clinic within Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD). Located on Laxmi Plaza along Biashara Street, the new clinic targets individuals and corporates located in the CBD and the business community living and serving within Nairobi and its environs.

So far, the clinics have served 154,137 patients across all Equity Afia clinics.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Equity Group Foundation Executive Director Mr. Reuben Mbindu noted that the Franchise was on track in its growth strategy.

Equity Afia is committed to championing affordable access to healthcare in Kenya, enabling people to lead productive lives. We have standardized our services across all our clinics to ensure you have the same quality experience whether you are in Nakuru, Ongata Rongai, Nyeri or Nairobi CBD, “said Mr. Mbindu.

Other than the new clinic, Equity Afia operates other satellites in Ongata Rongai, Thika, Buruburu, Kayole, Kawangware, Ruiru, Nyeri, Nakuru, Kahawa West, Utawala and Kikuyu.

In Kenya and across the globe, medical costs continue to consume a huge financial budget for families. Locally, the cost of treatment can be too high limiting access to quality services.

In response to this growing need for quality, affordable and accessible health services, Equity Group Foundation launched Equity Afia in 2015. The clinics are NHIF accredited, allowing both the employed and the self-employed to access medical outpatient treatment under the national cover as stipulated by NHIF’s outpatient benefit scheme.

Additionally, the clinics have partnered with various insurance service providers in Kenya allowing acceptability across diverse consumers, businesses and communities.

Speaking on behalf of the Health Permanent Secretary, Ms. Susan Mochache; Manasseh Bocha, Chief Clinical Officer Ministry of Health said that Kenya has made remarkable progress in the journey towards Universal Health Coverage courtesy of collaboration from stakeholders in the health sector. He further urged other stakeholders to adopt cost effective health models that increase access to quality services.

Equity Afia clinics are managed by medical doctor entrepreneurs who were beneficiaries of  Wings to Fly and the Equity Leaders Program (ELP) and they offer comprehensive outpatient medical services including, doctor consultations, nursing care services, dental services, well-baby clinics, specialist clinics and diagnostic services through ultra-modern laboratories.

The Equity Afia clinics are also providing a platform for alumni of the Equity Leaders Program (ELP) who are qualified health professionals to join the franchise and use their health expertise to transform lives and livelihoods of Kenyans through offering affordable, quality and accessible healthcare.

Equity Bank offers support in form of financing and through other products and services for doctors wishing to set up such centres.
