Brighter Monday Unveils Tool for Employwers to Ease Hiring Process

Employers now stand better chances of getting quality talent thanks to new recruitment technology that enables employers to select the right candidates for the job to be done through industry-based assessments for each role. This comes after talent recruitment agency BrighterMonday launched an assessment tool for employers and recruiters to use as a solution to hire the right candidate. The tests measure applicants’ abilities beyond what is captured on their CVs. The BrighterMonday skills assessment tool tests for core competencies and hard skills required for a specific role. The tests are industry-specific, and they are curated by experts for different job functions to test a candidate’s proficiency. The assessments are linked to a job listing and it becomes part of the job application process. This means that all candidates responding to a job ad will take the assessment. Employers will then be able to view all applicants as well as their test results from the applicant tracking system (ATS). Commenting on this new development, BrighterMonday CEO Emmanuel Mutuma said the decision was arrived at in order to address the underlying challenge most recruiting managers face – receiving too many low-quality applicants.
“This is a key milestone for our business. We are all aware that recruiting talent is a laborious and time-consuming task for most employers today. With this assessment, employers can now discover who has the right skills to get the job done right. The ATS augments the assessment as a filter on the backend in a way that the hiring manager can view candidate scores alongside other filters like education and experience levels. This way, an employer can compare a candidate’s proficiency, qualifications and experience levels at a glance.”
In a survey released by the Federation of Kenyan Employees in 2018, sixty-eight (68) percent of new employees take up to three months to do their job properly. This is attributed to the time taken in the training and induction of the recruit. Mr. Mutuma encourages recruiters to look beyond the CV while hiring and take advantage of the BrighterMonday assessment tool. Other than your academic qualifications, employers are looking at a candidate’s ability to fit into a role, something that cannot be measured by merely looking at a CV, which is what the assessment tool does. The tests have been curated by experts and are excellent predictors of a candidate’s cognitive ability to perform the tasks required for the role, therefore helping you objectively pick the most capable candidates.
