Daniel Bennett to lead Amani Institute
Amani Institute is delighted to announce that it has appointed Daniel Bennett as its new CEO to lead the organization into a new era of growth and scaling its impact.
Bennett joins Amani Institute after spending nearly a decade at the Atlantic Council, a leading nonpartisan think tank in Washington, DC, where he co-created and grew the organization’s center for global leadership and education. In this role, he trained, developed, and partnered with leaders from over 80 countries and a wide range of sectors – from the United Nations to the World Bank, the World Wildlife Fund and Global Peace and Development Fund, to mention a few -, including elected and government officials, nonprofit executives, entrepreneurs and senior leaders at top global firms such as Goldman Sachs, PayPal, Airbus, Google, Facebook and others. Daniel brings a deep background in leadership development that includes executive coaching, adaptive leadership, psychometrics, and design thinking alongside a global outlook and entrepreneurial approach to building organizations.
Says Daniel Bennett, incoming CEO, “I’m inspired by Amani Institute’s mission to develop social impact leaders as well as the innovative programming and community they’ve created to actually do it – I’ve always believed in changing the world by building capacity in others to lead change themselves and feel honored by this opportunity to build upon the foundation Amani has established”.
Bennett will spearhead the development and execution of a strategic plan for the organization’s next chapter of growth. His goals include scaling Amani Institute’s award-winning model and programs to new regions, including Leadership 4 Growth (L4G) and the Post- Graduate Certificate in Social Innovation Management (SIM) and creating opportunities for the institute to partner with organizations to deliver larger programs.
After more than 9 years at the helm, Co-Founders Roshan Paul and Ilaina Rabbat will transition to the Board of Directors and Bennett will take over full management of the organization beginning, February 1st, 2021.
Says co-founder and outgoing CEO, Roshan Paul, “It’s been an incredible and life-changing decade of setting up and growing Amani Institute in Kenya, Brazil and India, thus meeting our first ambitious set of goals. As we move into a new era with an ambitious new strategy, I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Daniel Bennett into the organization; we truly believe he will do a fantastic job leading Amani Institute forward.”
“I am delighted to welcome Daniel Bennett to the Amani Institute family,” said Ilaina Rabbat, Co-Founder, Board Member, and outgoing Executive Director. “Daniel’s extensive management and leadership background, track records on working with diverse audiences, depth of training expertise, and business development skills will help Amani Institute strengthen its global presence, develop strategic alliances, and expand its social impact. Daniel is the right leader to take over Amani Institute and he can count on the foundational work done, the passionate team he is going to lead, and the larger community of alumni and partners that I am sure will keep on being enthusiastic supporters of Amani Institute’s work.”
