CS James Macharia to Attend World Engineering Day Celebrations in Nairobi
James Macharia, the Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Development and Public Works, will be the chief guest at this year’s celebrations of the World Engineering Day to be held on March 4 in Nairobi.
The ceremony at the University of Nairobi will also be attended by the Principal Secretary (Infrastructure), Prof Arch. Paul Maringa. Speakers at the event will include the President of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya, Eng Nathaniel Matalanga, and the Chairman of the Engineers Board of Kenya, Eng Erastus Mwongera.
Representatives from regional and international engineering organizations will address the gathering virtually, including from the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO).
The theme of this year’s event is “Engineering for a Healthy Planet: Celebrating the UNESCO Engineering Report.”
The global version of the celebrations will be held in Paris, France, at which the report will be launched jointly by UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay and Chinese Academy of Engineering President Li Xiaohong.
