Dafabet African Premier League Cricket Tournament, Kenyan-leg 2021 Postponed until further notice
Further to the Public Order No 2 of 2021 on the Coronavirus Pandemic containment measures issued on Friday, 26 March by H.E. the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta; we wish to announce the POSTPONEMENT of the inaugural Dafabet African Premier League cricket tournament, Kenyan-leg 2021.
The 17-day APL cricket bonanza was being held at the ICC-accredited Ruaraka Sports Club in Nairobi city, Kenya. The Twenty20 cricket league which was sponsored by Dafabet comprised six (6) teams selected by the Nairobi Provincial Cricket. The teams are Nairobi Lions, Thika Hippos, Eldoret Elephants, Nakuru Leopards, Mombasa Rhinos, and Kisumu Pythons.
In compliance with the order for Suspension of All Sporting Activities in Kenya, the tournament ceased immediately and all upcoming matches canceled.
For the inaugural Dafabet African Premier League, a comprehensive set of rules and protocols had been laid down by the Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) keeping Corona Pandemic in view. There were also no in-person spectators at any of the matches. The rules were followed by all and a close watch kept by the NPCA officials to ensure no breach of the health protocols.
The League will resume once the lockdown is lifted and business is back to normal.
