Mabati Rolling Mills, a Member of Safal Group Partners with Kenya Wildlife Services in the Magical Kenya Tembo Naming Festival

Mabati Rolling Mills (MRM), a Member of Safal Group, Africa’s largest Manufacturer of Steel Roofing Products with a footprint across eight countries has partnered with Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) in the official ceremony of the Magical Kenya Tembo Naming Festival at Ol Tukai Lodge, Amboseli National Park which is home to 3000 elephants out of the country’s total population of more than 34,000.
The naming festival, a KWS initiative, is a sustainable mechanism in an effort champion elephant conservation in Kenya that offers individuals and organizations an opportunity to support conservation efforts. The goal of the festival is to secure a future for elephants and their habitats in peaceful co-existence with humans while providing benefits for prosperity. It is hoped that the festival will bring attention to the conservation of elephants and the Kenya tourism offering.
Through continuous support and the most recent donation of Ksh. 500,000 to the KWS through the CS Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife Najib Balala, MRM adopted an elephant cub and named it Safal. Safal means, successful, the name further reinforces the company’s commitment in the care for the environment. It is hoped that the conservation of elephants will continue being successful for the sake of future generations.
Speaking during the naming festival, Manish Mehra, the MRM Business Head called upon the conservationists, corporates and organizations, government bodies and individuals to actively take part in efforts geared towards conserving the wildlife and to continuously support the on-going initiatives set out by the various relevant authorities on this front.
“Conservation remains at our heart as an organization and it is an absolute honor to adopt and name one of the baby elephants here today as we champion elephant conservation. We will continue to support efforts around conservation of the wildlife and the environment at large. Our communities are our homes and the longer we conserve them, the longer we have a place to call home, ” said Mr. Mehra during the naming festival at the Ol Tukai Lodge in Amboseli National Park.

The Magical Kenya Tembo Naming Festivals falls right in the environment pillar and this partnership continues to reinforce Safal’s commitment to this course.
“The festival and overall campaign is in line with KWS’ mandate and Safal Group’s environmental pillar as both are geared towards sustainability and opens many other opportunities for future partnerships”, he added.
This partnership follows the recent photography competition launch by Safal Group. The competition known as Safal Eye in the Wild has been running since 2017 with each year anchoring a unique environmental themes and this year, the competition will be focusing on African Landscapes.
The Safal Eye in the Wild Competition commenced in September and will run to the end of October 2021. With over Ksh. 600,000 in cash prizes and gifts to be won, professionals and amateur photographers residing in Africa are encouraged to participate.
